The Galen Historical Society held their first quarterly meeting of 2017 on Monday January 23rd. Sue Leurgrens, historical cooking expert, gave a talk about cooking over an open fire, and enclosed hearth, and an iron stove. She specializes in the time period of 1855-1865. There were pots, pans, and other cooking implements that she has collected and uses, including the stick whisk shown in the pictures. Ms. Leurgrens can be seen cooking at the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford, NY. The next GHS quarterly meeting will be held on Monday April 24th, 2017, at the Brick Church Museum.
